An Incredible Journey
It
has been a wonderful year, we started our project created by Miss Libia and we
were guide by Luis Hernández. They helped us through the journey of becoming a
sustainable school and were almost there.
Our
project started with brainstorming, and then we did a power point presentation
and our scale model. After, we had a trip to the Rochester School and we
learned about sustainability, they told us they spend a lot of money but it was
worth it. Finally, we wrote a song and we presented our power point
presentations. We have been visited by many people like Natalia Giraldo and
Juna Parra from the Minister of the Environment and Sustainability development,
also by 11th graders Vanesa Trujillo and Nicolás Poveda and also by Luis
Hernández. My opinion on our project is positive since it is useful to help our
school become sustainable. We asked people in our community and they told us
that Abraham Lincoln is in the process of becoming sustainable and this project
will guide us or help us achieve this goal.
During
this project I have learned many things like the real meaning of becoming a
green and sustainable school, and it's not just having campaigns to help the
environment or activities to get an environmental consciousness. To be a real
sustainable school means to have 3 aspects; social, environmental and
economical and our school certainly has the economical and social aspect but I
consider and our community as well that we do not have the environmental aspect.
In conclusion,
I think our school should take this opportunity because there are not many
sustainable schools in Colombia and this would be an honor for our country and
our school. This project will also help our future generations and with this
project we our one step closer of achieving our dream: a sustainable green
dream school.
